On the HotCopper forums, you must indicate your Sentiment (Buy | Sell | Hold | None) and your Position aka Disclosure (Held | Not held) each time you post while signing in as a member. This information will be saved as part of the post as a snapshot in time of your sentiment and position and cannot be edited once the message has been posted.
The first time you post on a new stock, you will have to make a selection before you can post the message:
For subsequent posts on the same stock, you will not be asked to make that selection again, as the system will remember your prior choice for you. You can, however, change which option is selected before selecting Post Message:
After you post a message, everyone reading it will see the Sentiment and the position Disclosure you selected. The example below shows two posts from the same user with the sentiment and position changed on each submission:
